The Cuban Workers' Central (CTC) called this Sunday to celebrate the World Proletariat's Day, a day that will close with an international meeting of solidarity with the Antillean nation. Under the motto United: We do Cuba, the Cuban trade union movement will commemorate the date in virtual form and the occasion will serve to pay tribute to health and science workers for their consecration and contribution to the care of life in more than 46 countries .
The secretary general of the CTC, Ulises Guilarte, made the call from the Empresa Agropecuaria Melena del Sur, in the western province of Mayabeque, from where he made it clear that the anniversary will ratify to the world the majority commitment of the Cuban people to his project.
We workers are aware that we are facing a complex and challenging scenario, Guilarte stressed in reference to the economic blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States, and that in recent years it was intensified with the implementation of more than 240 new measures.
It meant that added to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, which causes COVID-19, both had an impact on the contraction of the economy and on the paralysis or intermittence of production processes in the industry, which slowed down the programs developmental.
The also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba assured that to overcome these obstacles is only possible with a more creative and innovative management, based on existing resources, and above all, from our own efforts. "Like every # 1Mayo, we will show solidarity with workers and trade union organizations that are victims of neoliberal policies in the world," says the Convocation to the world day for Proletariat Day.
