“Year 66 of the Revolution”

To cadres, workers and students of the General Customs of the Republic.

Companions and companions:

A few hours before the advent of the new year in which we will commemorate the 66th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, we pay the well-deserved tribute to those who offered their lives in order to materialize the independence dreams that the Mambises embraced in the bush and that lasted for generations. who fought without quarter against those governments of disgrace - surrenderists and pro-imperialists - that the Centennial generation finally brought to an end on the 1st January 1959 and that during these more than six decades has guided us along the paths of Socialism.

These traditions of struggle that have been passed down from generation to generation have allowed us to face an exceptionally complex year, as it has been for Cuba in 2024, which is already ending and in which the arbitrary and extraterritorial measures of the United States government that intensified the policy of economic, commercial and financial war against our country, accompanied by the permanence on the spurious list of countries "sponsors of terrorism" have had a greater impact on the socio-economic level with the consequent damage to the Cuban people. Faced with this complex scenario, the General Customs of the Republic has maintained unchanged the fulfillment of its state mandate, ensuring the security of the borders and, in parallel, the facilitation of trade while promoting solutions through the use of science and innovation. technology in which the sacrifice and sense of belonging of those who make up the ranks of our institution prevail.

2025 appears to be a year of great challenges in which unity must prevail, as Army General Raúl Castro Ruz expressed: “Unity is our main strategic weapon; It has allowed this small island to succeed in every challenge; It supports the internationalist vocation of our people and their exploits in other lands of the world, following Martí's maxim that homeland is humanity. Let's take care of the unit more than the apple of our eye! This must be a year in which we strengthen the work of the Socialist Customs in terms of confronting customs illegalities and facilitating trade as a gift to its 62nd anniversary that we will be commemorating on February 5. It will be a year in which we will also continue to perfect and strengthen customs processes and internal control - firmly and resolutely combating manifestations of indiscipline and corruption that tarnish our work - while we contribute to the implementation of the government plan to correct distortions and reinvigorate the economy.

As our president and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez expressed in the closing speech of the IV ordinary period of sessions of the X Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power: “The good thing about these hard times It is that, just as they expose certain weaknesses of the soul, they also bring to light our mambisa fiber. The more complex and challenging the scenario, the greater the inventiveness, the greater the tenacity and imagination, the greater the pride in what we are – like that “I'm going to me” of the Cuban playing dominoes –, and the greater the confidence in one's own work. This way of acting has no other name than heroism, and nothing can diminish it: neither blockades, nor cruelties, nor hatred; "No swollen rivers, no torrential rains, no hurricanes, no earthquakes. With that multiplied heroism, we will commemorate with dignity the 66th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution!"

With this clear conception, let us celebrate this new year in which I convey to you and your families the best wishes on behalf of the Board of Directors of the General Customs of the Republic and on my own behalf, with the firm conviction that we will never disappoint trust. that the Party and the Government have placed in those of us who serve the Homeland as guardians of the borders.

Long live the Cuban Revolution!

Long live the Socialist Customs!

Homeland or Death! We will win!

Nelson Cordoves Reyes

Head of the General Customs of the Republic
