Cuba was elected to the Human Rights Council after receiving 146 votes in favor, which is a clear recognition of the role played by our country and the international recognition it has despite the media war.
In this regard, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez stated on his social networks:
#Cuba elected for the sixth time to join the UN Human Rights Council.
A place earned by practicing solidarity, cooperation, respect for the dignity and the right of all the peoples of the world to live in peace.
For the #HumanRights of all. Cuba has worked tirelessly to fulfill Martí's desire that "the First Law of the Republic be the cult of Cubans to the full dignity" of women and men, old age and childhood.
I appreciate the support of those who have shown their confidence in our commitment to continue defending the legitimate interests of developing nations.
