Last Monday, 1,035 passengers with 2,139 luggage arrived in the country through the international airports of Havana, Matanzas and Santiago de Cuba, and of those, 788 passed through the green channel of Customs, free of tariff payment.
Yamila Martínez Morales, general director of Customs Processes of the General Customs of the Republic, told Granma that they represent 76% of the passengers who entered the island on the first day that the importation of food, cleaning products and medicines came into force. exempt from payment of fees and limits, a temporary measure that will run until December 31 next.
The directive added that, to make the process more expeditious in the airport terminals and due to the same epidemiological situation of COVID-19, it is recommended that these items come separately from the rest of the miscellaneous or separated in the same luggage.
He stressed that this facility does not cover operations for international shipments or unaccompanied baggage, for which the current regulations and treatment are maintained.
Martínez Morales stressed that Customs maintains the issue of drug security and control as a priority, while pointing out that the preparation of specialists for radiological control is constant.
