The use of the nasobuco or mask will no longer be mandatory in Cuba as of today, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Monday.
As part of the measures for the new stage related to the control of COVID-19, it is established to eliminate its obligation for all social activities, except in medical consultations and hospitalization services that require it, and in areas with restriction during the focus controls.
However, masks will be mandatory for people with respiratory symptoms, and it is important that vulnerable people continue to use them as a protection measure, not only against COVID-19.
The Minsap recommends its use, also, in scenarios with agglomeration of people, where adequate physical distancing is not possible, and adds that the decision is maintained not to allow people with respiratory symptoms to enter work and student centers.
In addition, in each of these places, as well as in the health services and food preparation and sale areas, the necessary resources for hand washing and disinfection must be guaranteed.
Among other measures, the medical institution reports the elimination of the mandatory use of footsteps; although the disinfection of surfaces for collective use must be maintained, for which 0.5% sodium hypochlorite or 70% hydroalcoholic solution will be used.
Likewise, it recommends carrying out systematic and updated training for workers on hygienic standards for individual and collective protection.
