
Through his Twitter account, the president highlighted the 130th anniversary of the founding by the National Hero of the Patria newspaper.
“Day of celebration and reflection, this March 14. For the 130 years of the Homeland and for the challenges of the Cuban press in the current time of #Cuba. We are honored to accompany revolutionary journalism when it declares: #HacemosPatria," he wrote.
Previously, the island's foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez, described the country's press as brave, committed and faithful defender of the truth in the face of lies and manipulation.
"With Martí's ethics as the course of Cuban journalism, #HacemosPatria against those who do not give up in the effort to destroy the Revolution," added the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In all the provinces initiatives are developed in which outstanding workers of the different media are recognized.
The event for Press Day will culminate in an international colloquium dedicated to the newspaper Patria, to be held today and tomorrow, in which journalists from the world's media and left-wing institutions will participate, as well as academic political and social actors from several countries.
