The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, speaking this Wednesday in the context of the Council of Ministers, ratified Cuba's positions and principles in relation to the 9th Summit of the Americas, which It will take place between June 6 and 10, in the US city of Los Angeles.

We all know, he emphasized, that the Government of the United States conceived, from the beginning, this Summit of the Americas in a non-inclusive manner. «From the original design by the Government of the United States, from its initial intention, it was proposed that the Summit not be inclusive. And it was his intention to exclude several countries, including Cuba, despite the strong existing regional demand that exclusions in this type of event be put an end to, “he explained.

In this regard, he stressed that "the United States has been carrying out intense efforts and has exerted brutal pressure to demobilize the just and firm demands of the majority of the countries of the region that the Summit should be inclusive."

"That is the situation in which all this call for the Summit has been taking place, all the claims from the countries of the region, and the way in which the United States has been acting," he stressed.

In the context of the meeting of the highest body of the Cuban Government, the President of the Republic thanked "the brave and dignified position of the countries that have raised their voice against exclusions at the Summit of the Americas."

We want to emphasize -he said- that we share the position of the leaders of the region who have firmly claimed that everyone must be invited on an equal footing.

"In the conditions in which all these processes related to the Summit have taken place and due to the attitude maintained by the Government of the United States, I can assure you that I will not attend, in any case, the Summit of the Americas," he said. the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

As always, and as has happened in the past – he concluded – we are aware, we are convinced, that the voice of Cuba will be heard at the 9th Summit of the Americas.
