Russian presidential spokesman Dmitri Peskov said Wednesday that the United States has declared an economic war against Russia that it is waging de facto.
Asked about "what chances Russia has not to lose this war," Peskov said Moscow must "do what is in our best interests."
Peskov also said that while several foreign companies decide to suspend their operations in the country, the Russian government is working on measures to deal with unemployment.
For her part, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, María Zajárova, assured that the punitive measures adopted by Western countries against Russia will deal a devastating blow to their own economies, already affected by Covid-19.
As the official declared in a briefing this Wednesday, the situation in those nations will worsen seriously due to anti-Russian sanctions, especially among population groups that “barely survived the economic crisis” caused by the pandemic.
