The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, delivered yesterday to the General Customs of the Republic (AGR) an acknowledgment on the occasion to celebrate, tomorrow, the 60th anniversary of its constitution, in its socialist stage.
At the ceremony, the Head of State received a commemorative painting for the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, for his teachings and guidance.
Marrero Cruz said that we must not ignore the work of the AGR in fulfilling its mission, and based on preventing and confronting the COVID-19 pandemic, guaranteeing the continuity of commercial activity and humanitarian flights. for our nation.
He added that Customs rigorously implements plans to prevent and confront human trafficking; It is a fundamental actor in the principle of zero tolerance for drugs, illicit merchandise trafficking and other crimes associated with natural resources, flora and wildlife.
He stressed that the use of various detection techniques has increased, and the technological modernization of the AGR has been promoted, as well as the training of its personnel. As a result, "we have a Customs Office in line with current trends, more modern and interconnected, which promotes trade facilitation and, at the same time, guarantees the security of our borders," said Marrero Cruz.
Likewise, the 60th Anniversary commemorative coin was awarded to a group of organizations, including the Ministries of the Interior, Transport, Finance and Prices, Public Health, the CTC and the UJC.
Nelson Cordovés Reyes, head of the AGR, ratified the commitment of the institution's workers to fulfill their duties, such as border security, foreign trade operations and attention to travelers, providing an agile, transparent and sure.
