As part of the actions of the V Investment Forum of the Thirty-eighth Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2022), panel number 3 The Single Window for Foreign Investment Facilities and Organization of Procedures was held.
In her speech, Anabel Reloba Pérez, director of VUINEX, explained that since its opening the window has focused its objectives on carrying out the procedures for foreign investment modalities and emphasizes projects that are in an advanced stage of negotiation and those that they begin to operate.
“204 procedures have been managed through the window at all stages, negotiation, establishment, investment process and operations. It has also had the challenge of facilitating all the processes and that the procedures are carried out in a period of 15 to 20 business days. Of the procedures carried out, 82% have been carried out in the established times”, he added.
He affirmed that the interests of potential investors are channeled and 27 of them have presented concrete proposals and that they have been negotiated with the Cuban side. He also mentioned that among the main sectors of business interest, tourism, renewable energy, food production, construction, commerce, among others, stand out. Countries like Spain, Mexico, Canada, Germany and China have presented their clear intention to invest in Cuba.
There are many examples of businesses with foreign capital that have made use of the services of (VVUINEX). The deputy director of the Unión Eléctrica, Ángel Antonio Delgado, from his experience, pointed out that the window has successfully managed to accelerate the investment process linked to the development of renewable energy sources.
“The window contributes to shorten the procedures and provide effective solutions between businessmen and organizations. Every time an investor from the energy branch approaches the window, he is attended to professionally and the negotiation is followed up. These efforts mean that today the Electric Union (EU) has 12 companies with 100% foreign capital”, he also recognized the communication facilities of the Single Window specialists.
The panel also served to show the advances and potential of the VUINEX computer platform developed by the University of Computer Sciences and which allows foreign investors and organizations involved to digitally access the computer system and streamline the process. Likewise, the association elements to the cadastral certification transactions that describe and recognize the plot to be contributed for foreign investment were outlined.
And to culminate the meeting, the joint venture IBERANTILLAS S.A in the tourism sector was established between the Cuban mercantile company GRAN ANTILLA S.A and the Spanish company GESTORA HOTELERA CAREY S.L.U.
