"When you fight, you build victories, you win, but given the complexities of these times, to generate those victories we must continue to promote creative resistance, working, contributing, with optimism and, above all, without being discouraged."
This was considered by the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, when speaking at the meeting with the first secretaries of the provincial committees of the Party and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, corresponding to the month of June.

The meeting – held by videoconference – was also attended by the member of the Political Bureau of the Party and Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales Ojeda, the members of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party, and other party cadres and officials.

Díaz-Canel reaffirmed that the country is experiencing a complex economic situation, with a blockade intensifying to unprecedented levels after the more than 240 measures imposed by the Trump administration, and continued by the Joe Biden government, the global crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic and a media offensive that resorts to discrediting, lies, falsehood, hatred and hypocrisy as weapons.

I have specified that, in this context, everything that contributes to seeking immediate answers must be taken into account, for which a greater link with the base, accountability, is vital, as well as promoting greater popular participation and revolutionary articulation in all the stages.

The First Secretary called for the reopening of spaces that we have had closed for more than two years, for the revival of popular participation activities – taking into account the characteristics of each place – and for solutions to various problems to come from the territories themselves.

He called on the cadres to listen, attend and act more quickly, with sensitivity and, to the extent that conditions allow, reorient sectors such as commerce and transportation for the greater benefit of workers; review the forms of distribution, stagger working hours, continue to stimulate national production and attend, first of all, to communities and cases in situations of vulnerability.
