Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, highlighted the support that the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has maintained and its impact on the child population of the majority of The Antilles.

When receiving Garry Conille, regional director of UNICEF for Latin America and the Caribbean, this Tuesday at the Palace of the Revolution, the Cuban president stressed the collaboration of that United Nations agency, every time a natural disaster or other event affects boys, girls and adolescents.

Díaz-Canel mentioned the permanent support for the National Vaccination Program, which Cuba invariably maintains, especially with its own vaccines, as well as other projects and programs to guarantee the well-being of children.

By the way, the head of state praised Unicef's help to the immunization program, and pointed out that it did not stop even in the most difficult stage of COVID-19, and will continue to develop after the pandemic, despite the resurgence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States Government.

Cuba was the first country in the world to protect its child population over two years of age, with its own anti-COVID-19 immunogens, and now, in the post-pandemic stage, it applies a protocol to support pediatric patients convalescent from that disease. , recalled the President.
