
Today's story takes us to a man who answers to the name of Rodolfo Mesa Estenoz, 50 years old, a Ciego de Ávila Customs worker. 26 years of passing through this institution that allowed him to qualify as a Customs Inspector and Instructor of the Canine Technique and efficiently achieve the courses of Confrontation against Terrorism and Drug Trafficking.
His beginnings in Customs were as an Inspector at the Máximo Gómez Báez International Airport from 1996 to 2002, when the Jardines del Rey International Airport was inaugurated. He entered the canine technique course in 2001, specializing in the technique of explosives due to the importance it has and contributes to national security. From 2002 to date, he has been happy to contribute to the Homeland and his calling.
Participated in detections of several cases of drugs for consumption. He was in charge of the anti-fraud group called today the Risk Control and Management Section. He tells us that there were 6 canine technicians, 3 for explosives and 3 for drugs at the beginning and now thanks to the training of new recruits there are 10 dog-loving units of which he is the Instructor, evidence of the growth and strengthening of the specialty. He obtained 3 Seals of Honor and 1 Seal of Honor and Ethics as customs distinctions, in addition to participating in important events such as the 1st. National Competition of the Canine Technique in the year 2002 reaching the 2nd. place and later in 2013 the 1st. He is currently a member of the History Commission of our Customs. Rodolfo keeps in his memory the anecdote when he participated in the security coverage of Pope Francis during his visit to Cuba.
His family is and has been of vital support, since on one occasion he spent 18 months in Havana taking the Medium Level Instructor course of Canine Technique. Rodolfo is undoubtedly an example of a customs officer dedicated to the Revolution and today he holds the position of Secretary General of the Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Customs, as well as being a leader in political and ideological work.
