Health for all, the theme with which the World Health Organization calls on humanity to celebrate World Health Day on April 7, is an essence that for more than six decades has preserved the Cuban Revolution and sustains the work of the National system of health.
This is a principle defended in every corner of the country and that has become a concern for thousands of professionals and workers in our sector, who are also joined by agencies, organizations, institutions and dissimilar sectors.
Precisely our political and governmental will, to work so that all people can enjoy good health and a better quality of life, has made it possible to achieve health indicators in line with those of the first world.
Defending these indicators, in the midst of the multiple economic limitations that persist, and that inevitably affect the availability of resources and services that our population demands, has required a commendable effort on the part of our workers and we are sure that it will continue to be so. regardless of whether they work in the most remote community or in the most recognized specialized center.
This action also supports the invariable commitment of the Cuban Government to share knowledge and solidarity with other peoples of the world, to which more than 600,000 Health collaborators have reached for almost 60 years.
The current challenge for the sector —one of the hardest hit by the unfair economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government— then revolves around continuing to search for and consolidate paths that allow us to take advantage of all the efficiency reserves that in many places still exist. We are certain that our workers will know how to rise to this enormous challenge.
Cuba works tirelessly, and will continue to do so, to always preserve the sacred right that people have to life.
