Prime Minister Manuel Marrero today urged the provincial authorities of Cuba to correctly implement the measures adopted to correct distortions and boost the national economy.
In a meeting with governors from across the country and the mayor of the Isla de la Juventud special municipality, the Cuban head of government emphasized the relevance of explaining to the population the objectives of such provisions.
The actions will not have an immediate impact, nor will they solve all the problems in the short term, but it is necessary for the population to understand that they are necessary, and they put us on the right path to reverse the current situation, with the participation of everyone, he noted.
Marrero also recommended reviewing business-level structures to achieve greater productivity and reduce economic costs, national television reported.
In that sense he called “to restore discipline and demand; correct what is wrong and do it with a sense of modesty and self-criticism to move forward; analyze what we would need to produce more and earn more.”
Regarding the transition from the subsidy of products to that of people, he stated that it is necessary that “those who have a lot pay what things are worth, and those who have little continue, from the Government and the State, subsidized, and that we can give them more than what that they receive today.”
At the meeting, the progress of the housing construction plan for 2024 was analyzed, an aspect in which Marrero suggested exploiting local potential and promoting a movement in the municipalities that allows achieving better results.
Likewise, he called to emphasize the control of resources and confront any manifestation of crimes.
He also affirmed that food production must be a work priority at all levels.
