Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and president of the Republic, heads this Friday the militancy balance assembly in the province of Granma.

Accompanied by Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, member of the Secretariat and head of the Ideological Department, he will share the transcendental day of debates with the more than 200 delegates and guests at the conclave, which takes place in the theater of the Provincial Committee of the PCC.

Federico Hernández Hernández, maximum political leader of the territory, presents to the plenary a summary of the report that, with depth and critical sense, analyzes the role of the Granma communists in the realization of the Ideas, Concepts and Guidelines of the Eighth Party Congress.

In addition to the 13 assemblies at the municipal level, he said, this moment was preceded by the study and approval of actions in all the base nuclei, as a sign of the democratic and participatory nature of the organization.

He stressed that the aforementioned stage was characterized by the tightening of the US blockade, the economic and health crises caused by
the COVID-19 pandemic, and a ruthless media war aimed at destroying the essence of the Revolution.

In this difficult context, Granma worked in accordance with the approved structure and objectives, without neglecting the priorities of the National Development Plan until the year 2030, and giving special attention to the development of food production, given the potential of the agricultural sector, stressed.

As a result, he pointed out that the Municipal Self-Supply Program shows growth in the harvest and distribution of food such as plantain, yucca, sweet potato and, to a lesser extent, malanga.

The cultivation of vegetables, grains and fruits, and the promotion of small livestock and aquaculture, are also progressing, while the movement of Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture makes modest progress, but needs to increase yields in all localities in order to meet the requirements in correspondence with the number of inhabitants, he added.
