A representation of the people of Santiago de Cuba paid tribute today to Fidel Castro at the Santa Ifigenia heritage cemetery in Santiago de Cuba, commemorating the 98th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Revolution.
The Commander of the Revolution Guillermo García Frías attended the ceremony; Beatriz Johnson, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba; and Manuel Falcón, governor.
Also participating were Martha Mesa, president of the Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Environment Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power; leaders of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior, the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, political and mass organizations, and the people.
After the change of the Honor Guard, loose flowers were placed by attendees in the monolith that protects the ashes of the hero of Moncada.
