
The Prime Minister attended the closing ceremony of the III Eurasian Congress, headed by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on Friday afternoon (local time).
During the meeting with the heads of government participating in the event, which was held in the city of Sochi, Manuel Marrero Cruz conveyed to the Russian president greetings from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez.
The Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, thanked the support for the inclusion of the Greater Antilles, from December 11, 2020, as an observer State of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The Head of Government referred to the bilateral meetings held with several Eurasian countries, and to the identification of new areas of cooperation such as health services, energy, agriculture, biotechnology, tourism and food production.
The advances in the realization of projects between Cuba and Russia, which can serve as a reference for relations between the Greater Antilles and the EAEU, were also highlighted by Manuel Marrero Cruz.
Vladimir Putin, for his part, expressed his support and assured that he holds frequent talks with his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez, and that he will maintain them.
The Russian president reviewed the issues discussed at the Congress and highlighted the importance of the Union and the potential of the member countries.
Putin urged the development of joint ventures and industry, stressed the importance of technological sovereignty, e-government and interbank relations, saying that self-sufficiency is the foundation of sovereignty.
