
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and the Vice President of the Russian Security Council, Dmitri Medvedev, ratified today in Moscow the common desire to seek ways to strengthen economic relations and expand political dialogue.
Upon receiving the island's head of state, Medvedev thanked him for the official visit he is making to his country, and affirmed that the sanctions against Cuba and against Russia cannot slow down economic cooperation between the two countries and the ties between the parties.
According to information from the Cuban Presidency, the Russian authority highlighted the ties of friendship that have united both nations for decades.
We live in a complex world, under strong sanctions, Medvedev pointed out, and Cuba for us is a country with a lot of experience in these issues.
For his part, Díaz-Canel expressed his satisfaction at being in Russia, and conveyed a warm hug from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.

Starting this November 19, a high-level delegation from Cuba arrived in Russia on an official visit that will last until Tuesday, November 22, and whose agenda includes talks with President Vladimir Putin, with Parliament and Party authorities.
The Eurasian nation is the second stop on an international tour of President Díaz-Canel, which began on November 16 in Algeria, and will continue through Turkey and China.
As explained by the president, the program designed for the tour responds to Cuba's political and economic priorities, as well as the efforts to alleviate the effects of the post-pandemic crisis that overwhelms the entire world, and that in the case of the island It is exacerbated by the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
