In greeting the 60th Anniversary of the Socialist Customs, the Ciego de Ávila Customs visit the province of Santiago de Cuba known as the Hero City of Cuba and also for its colonial architecture and revolutionary history. In our journey through history we visited together with the Customs of that town the Frank País García Second Eastern Front, which was a combat front in the Cuban revolution, created on March 11, 1958 in Piloto del Medio, Sierra Cristal, receives its name from Frank País, a student leader in the Cuban Revolution.
Commander Raúl Castro was the one who was in charge of the mission. We also visited the 26 de Julio History Museum known as the Moncada Barracks, named after General Guillermo Moncada, hero of the Cuban War of Independence. On July 26, 1953, the barracks was the scene of an armed attack by a small group of revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro. We also honor the place where the remains of our Commander Fidel, Raúl and Vilma rest in the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery, undoubtedly a place of peace and fond memories of that November when the greatest leader in our history physically passed away.
