“We are working very hard, with a lot of commitment and with a lot of responsibility”, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, assessed this Sunday, when sharing with the press his appreciations on the work that are carried out in the country's thermoelectric plants, seven of which he has toured.
Together with workers from the electrical sector, touring areas of the Tallapiedra and Mariel plants -in Havana and Artemisa, respectively- the Cuban president woke up yesterday. At the end of his visit to the latter, Díaz-Canel highlighted the way in which workers in this sector face adversity, and after experiencing the same "blackouts" in their homes as the entire Cuban people, they arrive at their post and undertake intense work days that demand great effort.
The very characteristics of the technological infrastructure and the demanding tasks from the professional and technical point of view, he emphasized, generate stress for them, to which is added the pressure of the commitment to see how much faster we can put all the plants into operation.
That, he said, carries a dose of "responsibility, of demand, which is very important that it be recognized, that the people know of the heroism that exists in these workers who are working on Father's Day as just another day, and how we have said, working for all the parents of Cuba».
This colossal effort being made in the country has allowed, as the Cuban President explained, the recovery strategy of the National Electric System to advance.
As an encouraging element within these actions, he explained about the entry into operation of the Otto Parellada – the well-known Tallapiedra – which, according to what he learned during his visit, was to start “moving the machine” this Sunday, which would allow the incorporation of another 45 MW. in the next days.
With the good news that the works at Felton, the Holguín power plant, have gone well, even with some advances, the President recalled that the maintenance planned for the Antonio Guiteras, in Matanzas, could then also be advanced, and further progress in the repairs of unit 2 of Lidio Ramón Pérez itself.

All this, he considered, would allow us "to be closer to recovering before the new month arrives, which is the fundamental purpose, to enter the summer in a better situation."
According to the President's assessments, during the tour of the last three days – as part of which only the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes thermoelectric plant in Cienfuegos has not been reached – the quality of the people who support this system has been ratified and its preparation.
