The Ministry of Finance and Prices extends the tariff exemption for food, toilets and medicines and includes new benefits for imports that are made without a commercial nature by natural persons. The Ministry of Finance and Prices has decided to extend the tariff exemption until December 31, 2023 for the importation into the country of food, hygiene, medicines and medical supplies by way of travelers. Similarly, it exceptionally approved from July 1 to December 31, 2023 the regulations listed below:
| The exemption from payment of the customs tax is authorized for imported products classified as food, toiletries, medicines and medical supplies that are imported by passengers as unaccompanied baggage up to a limit of 500 United States dollars (USD) of the equivalent value or weight up to (50) kilograms in the value/weight ratio established by the General Customs of the Republic.
|In non-commercial air, sea and postal shipments by natural persons, the value limit is increased from USD 200 to USD 500. The customs tax exemption for the first 30 USD of the value or its equivalent weight of (3) kilograms of the shipment is ratified and a 30% tariff rate will be applied to the excess.
| The exemption from payment of the customs tax on food, hygiene, medicines and medical supplies that are imported without commercial character by natural persons such as air, sea and postal shipments up to a limit of 200 USD or equivalent weight up to (20) kilograms in the weight/value relationship established by the General Customs of the Republic.
 The condition that items classified as food, toiletries, medicines and medical supplies that are imported as part of the passenger's baggage, as well as shipments, will be presented to Customs in separate packages from the rest of the products, is maintained.
🖋️The Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba will publish in a timely manner the resolutions issued by the Ministers of Finance and Prices and Public Health, and by the Head of the General Customs of the Republic that provide the pertinent regulations in the respective competences.
