
August 16, 1925 is a transcendent, unforgettable and decisive event in the history of Cuba, in which so many glorious dates crowd together in the course of a Revolution full of martyrs and sacrifices, whose starting point Fidel pointed out on October 10 from 1868, and which extends to today as unity and continuity.
But for there to be a harvest in history, there must first be sowing. The harvesters are as important as the sowers.
On a day like today, in a modest place on Calle Calzada del Vedado, a group of enlightened men -there were no militant women yet-, of social fighters, patriots and internationalists, several of them like Carlos Baliño and Julio Antonio Mella, with wide and an outstanding history of struggles, coincided in a pioneering way in organizing themselves combatively to start in Cuba a day that, since then, was announced as the most sacrificed, hard and difficult.
To many, with the best wishes and the greatest goodwill, the transformation of that flawed, neocolonial and corrupt society where Marti's thought and the purest ideas of independence had been betrayed seemed impossible.
