In the General Customs of the Republic, young people represent 66% of the workforce, so there is not a single specialty or line of activity, in which we are not present. The main mission is to safeguard our borders, enforcing state policies and customs matters.
Before, during and after the 60th Anniversary of the Socialist Customs, we have completed a program of actions and tasks with the aim of strengthening the unity among young people as protagonists in this anniversary, the sense of belonging to our institution, and the creation of a massive political movement.
What have been those actions to achieve the aforementioned?
In this sense and as a way to celebrate this new anniversary, on December 16, 2022, the Socialist Customs Detachment 60 was the flag bearer, which is made up of the young vanguards of each Customs Unit, where we made tours of places of historical interest within of which we can mention:
-The mausoleum that houses the remains of the Heroic Guerrilla and the brave men who accompanied him in Bolivia,
-The place where the derailment of the armored train is commemorated during the combats that later allowed the victory of the Rebel Army in Santa Clara,
-The “Fidel Castro” Center,
-The Memorial of the Denunciation and the Museum of the Revolution.
But without a doubt, the ascent to the “Turquino” Peak and the reencounter with the history that the hero city treasures, when visiting the school city “26 de Julio”, the “Moncada” barracks, the “Siboney” farm and the birthplace of the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro allowed us to be in direct exchange with the country's history, strengthening the commitment we have with the continuity of the Revolution and the Socialist Customs.
Based on this experience, the highest management of the General Customs together with the Union of Young Communists have championed several Detachments from different Customs Units, where the young people who are part of this movement have committed to work, contribute, participate, transform and evolve, having very difficult challenges in which the survival of the Cuban Revolution depends and that it will not be possible to face without the presence of the youth.
What are the projections of young people in the AGR and with the organization of the Union of Young Communists?
Within the projections, we have, together with the National Bureau of the UJC, a plan of activities to be developed to continue celebrating our anniversary. This is something of great importance, since the attention provided by the Bureau has brought significant results, such as the growth achieved in this last period, where more than 270 young people joined our ranks and continue adding to our movement more motivated and in love with the profession.
