Taking into account the condition of Cuba as a signatory of the Convention on international trade in endangered species of wild flora and fauna, the General Customs of the Republic pours its efforts as the body in charge of directing and controlling the application of State policy and the government for the prevention and confrontation of illegal acts that endanger wildlife in the country.

In this sense, Cuban legislation establishes that for the import or export of endangered species of wild flora and fauna that natural persons intend to carry out, they require a permit granted by the Environmental Management and Inspection Center of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

Yaima Tirador Lemagne, head of the Department of Risk Management and Confrontations of the General Customs of the Republic, explained that the certificates or permits issued will be presented by the people to whom said permit was granted.

Although the law does not prohibit the export of species of wild flora and fauna, the customs authorities warn about the behavior of unscrupulous elements that intend to violate current legislation.

The head of the Department of Risk Management and Confrontations of the General Customs of the Republic also warned about the modus operandi of extracting these species from the country, something that is not only illegal, but also threatens the health of these species.
