The #NationalElections of this #March26 are approaching and what better way to understand why #YoVotoXTodos than in the own words of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution #FidelPorSiempre.

We leave you the letter made to the people of #Cuba before the historic elections of 1993.

Compatriots:

Let us fight with honor the battle of February 24.

The united vote is not a slogan, it is a revolutionary strategy. It is not an act of discipline, it is an act of conscience. It must be done, not because it is requested in the name of the Homeland, but because it is thoroughly understood that the Homeland needs it. It is what would make possible the election of many of those who constitute our most modest and humble candidates; the lesser known despite their merits.

Obtaining more than the number of valid votes, a very high and difficult requirement, is nothing more and nothing less than what they need and expect from you. An energetic and resounding victory is needed to show the enemy our strength and unity, when he wants to divide us, weaken us, demoralize us.

Our decisions under new, creative and democratic methods, the likes of which have never been applied in the world, are part of the great struggle of the "special period" that our people are waging heroically today and for the survival of the values we love so much. Faced with the most powerful empire on earth and in history, we are writing the bravest and most glorious page any people has ever written.

Our essential weapons are ideas. None will be able to surpass in cunning and dignity those that we defend. Homeland, Revolution, Socialism, are things too sacred to play with, shoot at them or stab them in the back with the treacherous dagger with which imperialism wants to kill our hopes and destroy our souls. Our social conquests will not be torn to pieces, nor will our heroic dead be unearthed from their graves.

The example and hope that Cuba represents for the world today cannot be disappointed. Our only alternative is victory.

We will comply!

! Overcome!

Fidel Castro Ruz
