With 1.5% of the total packages with more than 30 days waiting to be delivered to customers, the situation of international parcel distribution is progressing steadily, as a result of the implementation of government measures for its improvement. .
This is how Manuel Marrero Cruz, a member of the Party's Political Bureau and Prime Minister, assessed it this Thursday, who checked the execution of these actions in a meeting with representatives of the main freight forwarding agencies of the Island, which have managed, in general, to shorten delivery cycles.
In the meeting it transpired that, despite the stability that has been achieved in the service, an important group of claims persists, which are concentrated in the situation of packages that have not arrived in the country and, therefore, the responsibility is not of national entities, as well as containers with household items that, violating what is established, have included shipments from different people.
This last procedure "is illegal", and the owners of the packages are demanding from the agencies, when the claim corresponds to the person in charge of the container, who is the one who has committed the infraction, affirmed the Head of Government.
In order to improve the traceability of packages, progress is being made in the implementation of software for tracking shipments by customers, which will allow, in addition to tracking, the integration of the services of the different freight forwarding entities.
Marrero Cruz highlighted the integration of state companies with MSMEs created for parcel distribution, and insisted on the quality of the contracts, in order to establish responsibilities as a result of this link.
Marta Oramas, Vice Minister of Transportation, pointed out that, since the entry into force of the measures that make non-commercial imports of natural persons more flexible, there has been a significant increase in shipments to the country, especially packages of more than ten kilograms, and power plants of more than 900 watts.
He added that organizational and transport insurance measures have been implemented to guarantee the handling, storage and distribution of these loads, and that this occurs in a sustainable manner, taking into account the trend of increasing shipments.
In the analysis, also chaired by Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca and Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, deputy prime ministers, several agencies reported on their strategies to guarantee the flow of parcels, including Transcargo, which presented a considerable delay as of month of May, which generated a large number of complaints.
The director of the Maritime Port Business Group, Alejandro García, explained that the entity has transformed its management and organizational structure, and has begun to recover the backlog in distribution, with the support of non-state forms of management.
