Unaccompanied Baggage

Passenger luggage can be:

Accompanied Baggage when:

The passenger takes it or brings it with him, upon his departure or arrival in the country,

Travel in the same means of transport as the passenger

It is covered by the baggage vouchers that the carrier issues at the time of check-out or entry (checked baggage).

Accompanied Luggage also includes objects and articles that passengers carry or carry in their hands (hand luggage).

Important Note: The luggage that the passenger dispatches at the time of the trip and that due to the responsibility of the carrier line does not travel with it at that time and arrives later, is considered Accompanied Baggage

Unaccompanied Baggage when:

Luggage arrives or leaves before or after the passenger's departure or arrival date.

It belongs to a person who has actually traveled to Cuba.

It has been embarked in the same country of origin of the passenger.

It has been dispatched or shipped in the country of origin by the passenger himself or on his behalf.

It is consigned to the passenger himself.

No more than thirty (30) days have elapsed since the date of arrival in the passenger's country if arriving by air, nor more than sixty (60) days if the arrival is by sea.

If the aforementioned requirements are not met, the cargo is not classified as unaccompanied baggage and will receive Shipping treatment. Unaccompanied baggage remains until customs clearance under the custody of the warehouse operating company where it is stored and as long as it is not declared and extracted, it will be considered under customs control.


Important Note: The value of imported items as unaccompanied luggage is part of the maximum limit of one thousand pesos to which the passenger is entitled upon arrival in the country.

I- All passengers can import:

In addition to their personal effects, for which customs duties will not be paid, passengers can import as part of their luggage, non-commercial and subject to the payment of the corresponding customs duties, new and used items up to the limit in value. authorized of one thousand (1,000) pesos. The value of the items that arrive in the country as unaccompanied luggage will be part of the maximum allowed value of that passenger.

Minors, as long as they are ten (10) years old, have the right to import items up to the limit of the established value. For the act of the office they must be assisted by an adult to represent them. Minors under ten (10) years old can only bring their personal effects, according to age.

The following are exempt from the payment of duties:

Up to 10 kilograms of drugs.

Prepared pharmaceutical products, wheelchairs for the disabled, scientific, technical, art and literature books; musical scores; educational records, tapes, stills and motion pictures; prostheses, when they replace or substitute an organ or part of it; and the equipment, books or materials destined for the blind;

Disposable handles for adults;

used personal items brought with them by passengers in general and by Cuban crew members of ships and aircraft and seafarers;

Household goods and personal effects of people who arrive in Cuba with the purpose of permanently residing, in accordance with the provisions of current legislation;

products for the personal use of foreign scholarship holders residing in Cuba and materials necessary for their studies, as long as they maintain that condition; they can also import one (1) computer with its peripheral elements, only once during the period of their stay in the national territory;

the medals, decorations and prizes awarded abroad, and the products that Cuban citizens receive as gifts or prizes for their status as scientists, athletes, artists and others, provided that their origin is proven with the corresponding document.

The products, which as temporary importation, are brought by foreigners in their capacity as artists, athletes, specialists, scientists, journalists and filmmakers, passengers in transit and those people who arrive in the country in special circumstances.
